Almond Snuff by Gawith Hoggarth

Almond Snuff is a light brown fine dry scented snuff. It has a pleasant aroma of almonds / marzipan - it also seems to have an almost 'floral' scent to it once in the nose.

As a snuff it's un-offensive but as it's fine and dry - as most Gawith Hoggarth snuff tend to be, it needs to be snuffed with caution at first.

This snuff may appeal more to the connoisseur than the beginnner - although there's no reason (apart from the caution needed when using fine snuffs) why a beginner should be afraid of trying almond snuff.

For years I've been searching for a substitute for the George IV snuff available from Smith and Sons of Charing Cross Road (a snuff that is both ludicrously expensive and difficult to get hold of). This one fits the bill almost perfectly, which is not surpising as the Smiths version is supplied by Gawith Hoggarth anyway. Add a little Toque vanilla or some other less-floral mixer and it's delicious. As others have said, calling this snuff almond is somewhat misleading as the flavours are far more complex.

Hmm, cunning little Minx this one.

I didn\'t get Almond either at first. I was expecting that big, full bodied Almond smell.

Instead what I got was the top edge of the sweetness of an Almond. Like the very sweet smell of a Bakewell.

It\'s not what I was expecting but it\'s pretty nice actually.

Give it a go and a chance!

Not a very good snuff in my opinion. When I purchased this snuff I expected a strong nutty flavor but this snuff in my opinion definately did not deliver. The flavor is weak and I can hardly assertain that it is supposed to be almond flavored.

It is also a very dusty snuff which makes it difficult to take for a begginer. I'd take a pass on this snuff.

When I first tried it I couldn\'t pick up the almond scent, but after a few pinches it stood out more and more. The product description is correct, that you must use caution when sniffing this one as it is very fine and dry. As long as you sniff softly, and it doesn\'t end up in the back of your throat this is a very pleasant snuff.
