Submited By: Tony Seaton on 04/09/2011 I placed the opened tin on my desk, and was immediately met with the gentle aroma of Champagne and fresh-squeezed oranges. A good start. Gently spooning the snuff onto the flesh between thumb and forefinger, I appreciated an inviting, warm, slightly golden brown colour, and a pleasant, but not excessive, level of moistness.
So to the sniff. First impressions were of a mix of good-quality leather and the tobacco of unlit, mild cigars - again of significant quality. As this snuff met my nose, the physical sensation was a delightful and delicious sensation akin to the taste of Champagne bubbles.
As the snuff settled, so this gave way to a perfect likeness of the aroma of a seriously good Bucks Fizz [perhaps with Lanson Black Label or a Champagne of similar calibre]. The aroma lasts long, without any unpleasant surprises in its gradual decay. Going outside during a spring lunch-time, shortly after taking this snuff invoked wonderful memories of a garden-party wedding reception I attended a few years back.
This is a masterpiece of a snuff, beautifully crafted, and very pleasing. It doesn't deliver an immense, immediate nicotine kick, but then, to do so would be to detract from the overall experience. Like the aroma, the lift develops subtly, and lasts well.
All this, and you also get one of Snuff Store's superb new 10g screw-top tins with a polyethylene or polystyrene layer inside the lid to make a good seal when the two halves are screwed together. As well as serving the purpose, these tins are of a quality that would be acceptable on the coffee table, or to be passed around the dinner table after a meal [or before the cheese?].
I have to give Tim, Julia and their miller/blender full marks for a delightful, delicate and delicious snuff, and the same for excellent packaging!
