Caribbean Snuff Braniff

Caribbean snuff by Braniff is a new addition to Snuff Store's inventory for 2011.

Caribbean snuff from Braniff is made by the well known tobacco & cigar manufacturing company Villigar. If their cigar products are anything to go by, then these Braniff blends of snuff are sure to be of the highest quality.

Caribbean Snuff is made with cuban tobacco it is a light to mid brown fairly fine and dry snuff. There is a pleasant aroma when the box is opened of tobacco scent - with a hint of cigars.

The box itself has a sliding lid - which comes with a tamper seal to ensure freshness, the lid has directional arrows indicating which way you should push to open. When the lid has been opened there is a dosing hole revealed, which you can use to conveniently tap out your desired pinch size.

In the nose Caribbean snuff has a pleasant aroma of cigars and 'spice'. It also has some chocolate type flavour detectable once it's been in the nose for a while.

As Caribbean snuff is a fairly fine grind, it may be worth starting with a small pinch initially - before you ascertain the correct level for you.

Years ago I used to smoke a pipe and quite a few cigars....Bolivar was my favourite cigar well I can truly say this snuff brought memories back plus the ever so slight hint of menthol is not at all unpleasant....I will definitely be ordering more of this..Quite simply this snuff is so pleasant and relaxing and certainly what I would describe as moreish!! As for the container I quite like it and its unusual shape is easily found in the pocket.

Some years ago I had the great privelage of writing some memoires after my visit to Cuba. This was at the point when this lost island was opening up for foreign interest and discovery.

"Cuba is a beautiful island and is a destination that everyone should see before the world arrives. Memories warm colitas nights lying back in a rope salvaged hammock on a beach with a smooth Cohiba to hand".

Fancy going? If so, start by buying some Branif Caribbean. It simply took me back to this wonderful experience.

The snuff itself has a nice consistancy, its easy to take and has a lovely aromatic introduction. This is then followed by Cigar. Now mark this point well, you can hate Cigars and still enjoy this snuff. How can Fidel Castro & Che Guevara be wrong! Enjoy, Laurie

I purchased this to try included chocolate flavor mentioned but alas, either this is a production error or I am very very sensitive to menthol. To me it's like filling my nose fully with Vicks vapo-rub, not to mention eye watering, pain and stuff, my smell sensation ceases for minutes after using it. I've emptied the nice/usable box for filling with another snuff and I did so, alas I had to throw it that too just because remnant menthol was still killing me. But it just me I guess, never seen such a reaction from any user before. So menthol dislikers beware.

the delivery of the product was excelent and freshness of the product was also of a excelent standard.

now the snuff it self .. it comes in a very sexy and easy to manage plastic box. the snuff it self is very nicely milled .. not too corse and not too fine. the snuff is of a nice fluffy consistancy with a nice hint of cuban cigars with a touch of menthol action going on in the background.

This comes in a plastic dispenser the sample was fresh and I would think this type of container is petty airtight. This is a moist mid brown snuff and quiet strong in tobacco with a taste of chocolate and I think I detect a trace of coconut and a little menthol. A very pleasing snuff.

The Braniff snuffs are a new range sold by Villiger, presumably to tap into the growing market for smoke-free tobacco in all forms. However, the label on the rather stylish dispenser (aka sneezebox) informs us that the snuff is made in Germany rather than Switzerland so I suspect the snuff is made for Villiger by either Pöschl or Bernard (probably the former). While I don't really approve of the dispenser (all such dispensers are far from airtight, resulting all too quickly in dry and stale snuff) the contents of the sample I was sent are both fresh and tasty.

On to the snuff itself. It is a mid-brown medium snuff, quite fluffy when pinched and having a pleasant flavouring. There is supposed to be Cuban tobacco in the blend and I do get a distinct cigar-like background flavour which is most enjoyable. There is also a touch of menthol in the mix which to my mind is unnecessary but doesn't detract too much from the overall effect. Finally I get a cocoa-like after taste which lingers nicely. Altogether a good initial foray from Villiger into the world of snuff, though I would love to try an unmentholated version of this one.
