With a name like "Fribourg & Treyer Dr J Robertson Justice Snuff" I was expecting a lot. I'd read the reviews, and they seemed not just favourable, "Edwardian gentleman", "flowery and strangely alluring", but an absoloute must.
They are describing a smell, a smell that I thought was "me" in a tin.

Unfortunatly, we all have different tastes and sometimes this means that what one might like, another may not.

In the interest of different perspectives, and a fair spread of reviews I felt duty bound to leave a review of my own.

This has a fantastic name, and comes in a lovely long, thin upright tin. But it seems that the smell of Justice, is like sniffing soap!
Have you ever been halfway through washing your face and breathed in, caught a mouth / noseful of soapy water and thought "that ain't right"?
Then this is not for you.
If you quite enjoy licking your soapy face cloth whilst washing, then Justice is the snuff for you!

Talcy, flowery, clean shaven, yes. But I guess there's a good side to that, and a not so good side. I don't mind lightly smelling it, but snorting it is not for me. It sits on the back of my throat in an unpleasant fashion.

Maybe it's an aquired taste. Maybe time will tell.
I've got a lot of it left. So I guess time will tell.
I'm pretty stupid. I'll probably try it again. And again. But for now, I got soapy mouth : (

When I ventured to try Dr JRJ, I had been enjoying a mix of my own for some weeks; Wilsons' Morlaix and Tom Buck [Morlaix aroma with added "oomph"!]

The idea of Morlaix and Bordeaux had great appeal; all the more so when Dr JRJ comes with the Fribourg & Treyer pedigree.

This has the refinements of the clean-shaven Edwardian Gentleman, with just the right amount of body from the Bordeaux - "Dark, moist, Full-hearted" - yes, but I'd add adjectives like gentlemanly, civilised, even elegant. This is an exquisite blend.

This has to be among my top-ten favourites, a significant proportion of which come in the F&T tubes. It's easy to take, satisfying, lasts well, does not clog or cloy - and combines the qualities of two others from their range, both of which I also enjoy greatly on their own.

As with all the Fribourg mixtures I enjoy, I find spoon and hand preferable to pinching; the snuff store "silver metal spoon" [item #189] is splendid, and seems almost made-to-measure for the F & T tubes.

I thought I would get one of the F&T snuffs as a departure from my usual favourites, and chose DrJRJ purely because of the name. It was a good choice, and although I have since tried a variety of their other offerings, this one remains my favourite.

On first opening the rather beautiful tin, the aroma is of a clean, possibly talc snuff, which when taken sits in the nose beautifully releasing a flowery and strangely alluring taste. Although I rarely have a craving for it, once I have used it, I want to do so again and again.

This is a fine, slightly moist snuff with a light brown, possibly tan colour which contrasts well with other, darker snuffs. Well worth a try.
