Submited By: Derek Greenwood on 12/09/2009 This was the first plain snuff I tried and it was love at first nostrilful. It\'s deepish brown, coarsely milled and fairly moist when fresh. Beware letting this dry out too much or it will develop a texture more akin to grit. My solution, when this occurs, is to decant it into an old J.H. Wilson\'s snuff tin, stick a damp 1 inch square piece of kitchen roll to the inside of the lid and leave it overnight.
To me the flavour is of pure tobacco - though an ex-colleague of mine considered the aroma reminiscent of the inside of the elephant house at Whipsnade. Oddly enough, I can see what she meant but to true lovers of unadulterated tobacco it\'s hard to beat. I would have given it the full 5 star treatment if I didn\'t have a very slight preference for the Samuel Gawith version.
