Many MANY years ago I tried tobacco in all its forms.
I settled on cigarettes and stayed there for 20-odd years until one day a friend gave me a cigar. That triggered something that caused me to “relive my childhood” if you will and I started a trek to re-experience tobacco, again in all its forms.
Though I’m generally a pipe smoker (and avid collector), I still enjoy the occasional “chaw” or a "stogie", even a “fag” now and then.
However, during these times of “Political Correctness” when you can’t light-up, I always have my “Teak” Sharrow Snuff box in my pocket and it is always filled with McChystal’s “S’nuff”! I find it has enough nicotine ‘kick’ in it to satisfy a Kool or 2-pack-a-day Lucky smoker without the ‘burn’ found in other “high-content” sniffs. Even the revered and more expensive F&T “Princes” is a distant second as a favorite to me.
When it comes to snuff I’ve used (and enjoy many of) over 70 different blends and mixtures from the 8 major houses of manufacture. There are many fine blends out there, some not always available, yet, for me it is McChystal’s Smoker’s Blend “S’nuff” that does the trick - day in and evening out. If you enjoy the flavor of natural tobacco it certainly deserves close examination, even if you’re not a smoker.
It is also makes for a great blending powder for cutting some of the ‘bite’ without losing the ‘zest’ of those overly-strong Menthol/Eucalyptus/Camphor mixes out there.
IMHO

I tried snuff after having major surgery for lung cancer. I did the patches program and stopped smoking, but it left me feeling fed up. I bought some Gawith Apricot in Spain and it was heaven, a pick me up without smoking cigarettes, pure pleasure. Relaxing and it helps me cope with the emotional side of facing up to 'the big C' A big help.

Gawith Apricot Snuff was my very first snuff, Gawith making their snuffs so accessible to the public with its wonderfully designed plastic holder is many people's first snuff, and still one of my favorites! This snuff has achieved a perfect balance of scent and kick for my tastes. I always have a supply of Gawith Apricot Snuff in my collection. It has a slightly menthol twist on its beautiful apricot base with a truly heavenly tobacco finish. A snuff that you will often seek out to enhance a summer day or accompany you on a rainy one. Do yourself a favor and give this one a try!

Molens Pompadour Snuff is a dark brown in color, lightly ground dry snuff that offers, above all, the intense and unmistakable scent of cloves. If you are looking for a snuff that is heavy on scent and flavor and not loaded with nicotine, then you will not go wrong with Molens Pompadour Snuff. A unique offering that deserves to be tried.

McChrystal's JIP snuff is the strongest menthol snuff I've ever had, as well as possessing the biggest kick. Initially intensely and nearly overpoweringly minty, JIP quickly dissipates to a comfortable and pleasantly fresh sensation that lasts from fifteen minutes to half an hour. It is a snuff that allows your sense of smell to coexist with the mild scent is carries. This causes your everyday scents to seem fresh and new around you as its rush clears your head and perks up your outlook on the day.

Samuel Gawith Honey Snuff is a very moist snuff that is very distinctive in both its flavor and consistency. A dark and rich snuff that pairs well with other fruit based, medium/ dry snuffs. While not the best snuff for beginners, Samuel Gawith Honey Snuff is an occasional treat that can be fully enjoyed when taken in moderation. A good Holiday snuff.

Of all the Menthol snuffs I have in my collection, Wilsons of Sharrow Extra Strong Menthol Snuff has more than just the usual wintery rush most menthol snuffs posses. For my taste, it is by far the the smoothest and most pleasant tasting menthol snuff out there. If I am ever near the end of another kind of snuff, I will always add Wilsons Extra Strong to enjoy a familiar scent with a new twist. Never far from had (or nose!).

Wilsons Of Sharrow Honey Menthol Snuff is one of the most pleasurable snuffs I have ever had the good fortune to discover. Whether you are seeking an extremely uniquely scented snuff that delightfully lingers without overwhelming your senses, or a morning/ evening pick-me-up, this light menthol snuff with a hint of smooth, mellow honey is exactly what you are looking for! This is one of the few snuffs that I am always excited to offer to a friend.

Kamal is my favourite snuff along with Ganga, I personally do not have a craving for nicotine and stopped smoking five years ago but I do have problems of the sinus variety, I like Lowenprise but it becomes to menthol ally after a while, I have tried various snuffs but for me an everyday snuff is Kamal with that nice luxurious scent of wild damask roses which lingers on, and even when I take the dog for a walk the scent is still there, it's fragrance is such that that I have a dedicated snuff box just for Kamal.
I tried Old English Rose by Kendal I am still waiting for the rose fragrance it does not meet the quality and fineness of Kamal, and my second choice is Ganga for the same reasons, the English snuff companies should learn from the Dholaki Corporation for me they are the best.
