Samuel Gawith Snuff Blends Added

Saturday, May 9th, 2009

Big Samuel Gawith Snuff update this week.

We’ve once again stocked up on our Samuel Gawith snuff selection; and as promised, several that weren’t available after change over from tins to the new style plastic cartons have now been added and resupplied.

We’ve added 23 ‘new’ blends - when we say new, we mean that they’re new to us. Most are by popular request and we’ll continue adding as blends become available in the new style cartons.

Excitingly for us, since we’ve moved over to a Samuel Gawith supplier who’s as equally enthusiastic about snuff as we are; several of the blends that we’d previously been led to believe had been discontinued have been resurrected…

We hope you can take time to peruse the Samuel Gawith section - it now spreads over 3 pages. Please submit reviews for any that are ‘lacking’ if you’ve got comments to add. It’s a hard task trying all these blends I can tell you!

Silver Snuff Box Competition Winner

Sunday, March 15th, 2009

The lucky winner of our Silver Snuff Box competition in December 2008 was kind enough to send in some photos of himself using the Silver Snuff Box Pattern Lid, that we got to him as promised in time for Christmas 2008 - as an early Christmas present from us!

Leman from Iowa in the USA was picked at random from the snuff reviews submitted within the time frame specified. Leman doesn’t know it yet, but we’re going to try and get him to pick the number of the lucky entrant’s review for the current snuff box competition, which closes at the end of March.

So well done to you Leman and good luck to all those entering the Walnut Snuff Box competition this March.

Snuff Box Competition

Sunday, March 15th, 2009

As mentioned in the newsletter a couple of weeks back, we’re running another snuff box competition, this time for a lovely polished Walnut wood snuff box - courtesy of Dholakia snuff, who have also been sending out loads of samples of their new blends. See below for a photo of this Walnut wood snuff box.

Hopefully we’ll have some good news on the new Dholakia blends being available and stocked soon; I was particulary partial to the ‘roasted nut’ blend; when mixed with my favourite coffee snuff, the result was heavenly!

Any way, enough of the rambling! Like the snuff box competition pre-Christmas, all you have to do to enter this month’s snuff box competition is submit a snuff review. But… The review must be on the page of the main snuff site referring to the snuff blend or product in question. Please don’t submit the review in the comments section below this post, as it won’t be counted.

To see an example of a snuff review, check out the review under the main listing for Alt Offenbacher Köstlich Snuff by Bernard.

You can enter the competition as many times as you like. All submissions from the 1st of January 2009 will be admitted.

Same rules as last time; The more reviews you write, the more chances you’ll have of winning the snuff box - no purchase is necessary to enter the competition.

You can write a review for any snuff product listed on Snuff Store - if you agree, disagree or want to add to an already existing review that’s fine. Just click the ‘Write Review’ button below the product listing and your review will be added to a queue for us to check and release.

Your review should be around a minimum of 50 words, describing the snuff product in question. The snuff review doesn’t have to be a ‘positive’ review - we’re just as interested in finding out if you disliked a snuff for any particular reason. Just make your review original, honest and objective.

Your snuff review must be written in English.

To be entered into the snuff box competition, your snuff review must be ‘submitted’ to us by midnight (GMT) Tuesday 31st March 2009.

The winning review will be picked at random on Wednesday 1st of April 2009 (No Fooling!) and the snuff box sent out to the lucky winner free of charge.

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year 2009

Tuesday, December 23rd, 2008

Merry Christmas 2008 & Happy New Year 2009!

We would like to thank all our customers and friends for their patronage during 2008, and we hope to be able to serve your ’snuff needs’ in 2009 and beyond…

Tuesday the 23rd at is the last ‘guaranteed’ posting date / time for UK deliveries before Christmas via ‘Special Delivery’. If you want your snuff to arrive before Christmas day, it’s now Special Delivery only and in the usual areas that ‘qualify’ for this service.

We’re open as usual during the Christmas period - you’ll be able to use the site during the ‘bank holidays’, but we’re restricted on posting around the dates that the Post Office are operating this holiday time.

We have stocked up on all blends, we’ve had deliveries from all manufacturers in the last couple of days. We’ve re-stocked several styles of snuff boxes and we’re expecting deliveries of a few lines that are ‘low’ over the next week.

So that’s about it for 2008, here’s wishing you a great Christmas and a happy New Year.

McChrystals SP Snuff

We’ve added today McChrystals SP snuff. We’ve had a few requests for this ‘difficult to get hold of’ snuff, so hopefully the addition will please those of you who are interested in trying McChrystal’s ‘take’ on the popular SP style of snuff.

The snuff itself is a natural tobacco snuff, fine, light brown in colour and dry-ish. It has a interesting citrus / hoppy like scent to it. Of course, it may be a little ’sneezy’ for some; so test with intial small pinches before ‘diving in’!

Strangely McChrystals SP is referred to as SP 100 by McChrystals, but there’s no mention of this on the packaging. Why SP 100 we do not know!

To view the page on the store, click McChrystals SP Snuff.

McChrystals SP Snuff is available in extra large tins.

Buy Akuz Snuff

Akuz SnuffAkuz Snuff is the latest tobacco free snuff offering from Zuka, and is seen by Zuka as being potentially their ‘flagship’ snuff.

Zuka are proud of Akuz snuff, and rightly so - if tobacco free stimulating snuff is your thing.

It’s innovative, new and as far as snuff is concerned ‘exciting’! It’s definitely a novel snuff and certainly a break from the norm - for one it’s bright orange!

Akuz is sweet, fresh and orangey. It main ingredients are Glucose, Dextrose and Guarana.

Because of these ingredients and especially because of the guarana, Akuz snuff is being marketed as a natural ‘pick me up’.

Guarana is one of the richest sources of caffeine, one seed containing up to three times the amount of caffeine as coffee.

The Guarana seed can contain up to 4-8% caffeine, more than coffee beans, which contain approximately 1–2.5% caffeine. The seeds are also rich in tannins and xanthine alkaloids theophylline and theobromine.

Guaraná is reputed to be a stimulant and increase mental alertness, fight fatigue, and increase stamina and physical endurance. According to Zuka, taking 1 gram Guarana will provide a clean hit of energy, mental clarity and gentle excitement that usually lasts between 2-4 hrs.

Guarana is known to have the following main actions:

  • Stimulates
  • Increases Energy
  • Reduces Weight
  • Soothes Nerves
  • Fights free radicals
  • Increases libido
  • Relieves pain
  • Enhances memory
  • Quickens perceptions
  • Delays sleep
  • Helps with endurance based activities
  • Can help to recover from a hangover

Akuz is therefore a snuff for people ‘on the go’. Although Zuka’s marketing is aimed specifically at clubbers and the like - there’s no reason why ‘regular’ snuff users shouldn’t add this tobacco free snuff to the list of ‘white’ snuffs that they may usually purchase.

Bernard Snuff

We’re pleased to announce that we now stock Bernard Snuff.

The Bernard snuff company was founded in 1733 by Johann Nikolaus Bernard (1709-1780) in Offenbach am Main. The location was chosen because of the promised privileges of the Isenburg’s lords. So the Bernard snuff company got the name, “Fürstlich Isenburgische privilegierte Schnupftabakfabrik”.

During 2008, Bernard’s is celebrating 275 years of manufacture and have launched a Jubilee Snuff to mark this wonderful and historic occassion. Jubilaums Snuff is a limited edition snuff and has a has a fruity, spicy aroma with added menthol freshness. The Jubilee snuff is dark, finely ground and slightly moist; it is a perfect every day snuff.

Bernard Snuff

The most popular product of the Gebrüder Bernard snuff company historically was and still is today the “Schmalzler“.

The production of schmalzler snuff is very extensive and time consuming; in spite of modern technical progress, Bernard’s Schmalzler and other snuff tobaccos are still made and blended using traditional methods of production, and are completely handmade. Bernard’s continue to develop new snuff blends.

Bernards also produce several ‘white’ snuff blends - these tobacco free snuffs vary in flavour and are not all ‘minty’, so offer a variation to people wishing to try them. Perhaps most famous of these white snuffs are Edelweiss and Naseweis. Interestingly, Naseweis proclaims it can be used for a cure for colds!

Snuff Store now offers sixteen blends of Bernard Snuff, sold in 10g plastic cartons.
