Item Description

Samuel Gawith Black Coffee

If you've ever yearned for a fine blend of coffee and tobacco snuff, then Black Coffee snuff from Samuel Gawith may be the one for you. Many snuff users rate Samuel Gawith's Black Coffee snuff highly. It is classed by some users as a 'every day' snuff.

It is a strong, dark, fine and handsome snuff...  Seriously though, Black Coffee is a fine ground, dark, slightly moist snuff that has a smoky / coffee scent to it. It gives a long lingering smoky coffee flavour in the nose.

Interestingly Samuel Gawith's Black Coffee snuff is deemed to be a good likeness for the 'most expensive snuff in the world' - it is therefore a 'Regal' snuff in our opinion!

Sold in the new 10g plastic container, try Samuel Gawith Black Coffee snuff today.

I thought I would try this, just in case the Blenders Special Cafe Noir ever disappeared.
Hmmmm? yes its Coffee, yes its a well ground snuff and very acceptable. Its nicely packaged and easy to use.
There is a "however" coming!
Its is not of the same standard as the Blenders Special. It will do as a substitute should the Special not be available.
I should not come down too hard on this snuff, its very good quality and a splendid snuff.I would tell anyone to try this , it certainly is a milder snuff and quite pleasurable with a well rounded smooth lingering aroma.

Daniel Pruszewski writes that he finds this an almost exact match for G Smith & Sons' Café Royale.

No surprise here - until late 2008 most of G Smith's "own brand" snuffs were supplied by Sam Gawith's mill.

I am told the product that was Smiths' Café Royale is now available here [from SnuffStore] as Café Noir. [source of info: a senior member of staff at Gawith's]

My first try of this was actually over a mug of black coffee so I didn't really get to appreciate the great aroma this snuff has. I'm not sure if it isn't just ground coffee that I am using to be honest!
Quite a coarse grind, which I like - not very sneezy. Great in the morning if you don't have time for a real one!

One of the better coffee flavored snuffs on the market in my opinion in fact it is almost an excact match to the harder to get and more expensive Smith and Sons Cafe' Royale.

It is very dark in color and pretty course in grind while being semi moist making it an easy snuff to take big heaping sniffs of.

The flavor is also very well done and this is definately worth a purchase.

A box of this goes everywhere with me. I was a bit wary about trying Black Coffee at first because I imagined it to be quite sweet, like the Cafe Creme from Jaxons. In fact, there is a smokiness to this mixture I was more than pleasantly surprised by. The initial hit is very much of fine roasted coffee, but then comes the smoky afterglow. The texture is fine, a bit on the dryish side but doesn't clump and it's easy to get a measured dose from the well designed box. This is a very satisfying snuff, smooth and kind on the nostrils and a pinch lingers pleasantly for quite some time.
