Well, I'd been warned that tastes change and that what is initially not rated highly might become so on second visit. So it was with this snuff. The mastic is way, way, back in the flavour. So far back, in fact, that it's almost undetectable. But I was wrong at first because it is there, underneath a rich, dark tobacco flavour. Almost like a myrrh note, but only the woodiness rather than the balsam. There's a freshness to it. The grind, only slightly coarse, fits the flavour perfectly. I have learned from this experience that is better to experience a snuff for what it actually is, and understand that descriptions provided by others are simply subjective suggestions. The truth is, this is an excellent snuff with a timber-like tang that is complimented perfectly by both the grind and the dark tobacco, which stays on the wholesome side of dank while still suggestive of undergrowth. I live and learn.
