WILSONS BEST SP SNUFF

Item Description

Best SP Snuff has been Wilsons' best selling snuff for more than 250 years. Its basic aroma is of the finest tobacco leaves with just a hint of the addition of various essential oils of Mediterranean citrus fruits.

Best SP is a every day snuff in our opinion, it's what you'd expect to see in tobacconists up and down the country - if the general public wasn't so used to obtaining their nicotine in a different manner of course!

If you're after a good old traditional English snuff then Best SP could be the snuff for you.

Price is for a 'medium' tin of Best SP Snuff.

Correction to last review:

\"quarter of a century\" should read \"quarter of a millennium\" - so long have Sharrow Mills been doing it right.

The name says it all.

Whilst I love the high-kick nature of Wilsons\' Tom Buck [an SP on steroids] - if you want the classic SP - delicious, gently citusy, very subtly spiced, serious quality tobacco SP, this stuff [or snuff] is it!

Best SP - the name says it all.

For well over a quarter of a century, the Wilson family have been making this snuff; it\'s still their best seller; its base is probably the base for a number of their truly superb fruity, spiced and herbal blends; on its own, this is, to my taste, THE SP for others to strive to equal.

Quality tobacco and consistent milling/blending - if you\'re after a good \"plain\" snuff, and especially if you appreciate a good SP, this snuff has to be appreciated if you haven\'t tried it yet.

Another classic Wilsons\' masterpiece to which I can only give full marks [and, as with so many others, I recommend, in ideal circumstances, spooning gently onto the hand/wrist for sniffing in preference [to my taste] to pinching].

Best SP? The name says it all - immodest? Maybe, but justified!

I have this one in my snuff tin as I write.Wilson\'s Best SP is one of those that suit any occasion. I like to get a tin every now and again for a refreshing change.
A nice tobacco flavour with subtle spices, easy on the nose and one of those where a good pinch will keep you going nicely for a while.

I am under the impression that this is WIlson's workhorse SP; been around forever and a standard by which to measure other snuffs. If you're going to have an SP, this has to be it. I'm glad I did, so I can appreciate the other SPs I use all the more! This particular snuff burns me worse than a dry toast! I seem to get along with Wilson's Gold Label SP much better, the Samuel Gawith SPs go down (up?) a treat, but as I'm typing this, I'm happily snuffing McChrystal's SP.

That's why there are so many snuffs, to each there own. I have to givethis the full five; nothing without merit lasts for over two hundred years!

This one surely is a classic, though I don't think its Wilson's "Best" even though it is named as such. I prefer Tom Buck or Queen's Extra, which are also SPs and all three are quite similar.
This one is lighter than the other two though, and is somewhat more refreshing. It also gives a better nose clearing effect. The bergamot and light floral scent are complimentary.
So if you want stong character or flavor in your SP, go with Tom Buck. If you want a more airy refreshing sniff, go with Best.

What can I say? :-) I've only just begun to indulge in the pleasure of snufftaking - after some 15 or so years away from it. The first time I opened a tin of Wilson's Best SP and took a pinch I realized just what I've been missing out on. WONDERFUL:-) In my opinion, the *BEST* every day snuff you'll ever get. Someone else said its a 'CLASSIC' - well I couldn't agree more. At night I'll often enjoy the more aromatic Morlaix, Old Paris or Macouba - Fribourg and & Treyer classics - but for everyday use you just can't beat the SP :-)
