Submited By: Tony Seaton on 09/03/2010 I ventured to try this when SnuffStore had some remainder stock of small tins on Special Offer. It was one of those where I was touched by Tim & Julia's customer-oriented business ethos - the small tins had all gone, so I was sent a regular-sized [Sharrow "medium"] tin instead.
Just ventured to open this tonight, fancying a change. Huge rush of Carnation on opening the tin - similarly rich to some of the Fribourg & Treyer recipes - with nothing unnerving, as there is when some new tins are opened.
First spoonful: Wow! Strong, rich, intense - yet not overpowering. Carnation, but without anything remotely "stale" as carnations can sometimes smell, even if left wrapped for just a hour or so between florist and vase.
Probably not going to become quite the "regular" that Wilson's Tom Buck, Morlaix, or Fribourg's Macouba and Prince's Special are on my desk - but yet definitely one that will stay on the desk rather than in the drawer!
Nicely moist, with a medium-fine grind and a pleasing nicotine hit - it can tend to be just a touch heavy in the nose compared to some other Wilson's blends - but nowhere near as much so as one or two other snuffs I have.
Rating? I wish I could give this 4.5. I like it more than some snuffs I've given a 4, yet it's not quite "up there" with Tom Buck, Wilson's Morlaix, several of the Fribourg blends, Snuff Store's own Golden Pinch ... [or Hedges and Jip! in the winter]!
I recommend it - it's a "manly" floral snuff, that may win it some friends. Well worth a try.
