I think one or two previous posters have confused "strong snuff" with snuff bearing a strong aroma or flavour.

This is a beautifully crafted SP, made from quality tobaccos, with a subtle bergamot finish. The term "extra strong" describes the character of the tobacco/preparation, and consequent nicotine hit.

Where this snuff really excels for me, compared to some other strong snuffs [like Jip, Pöschl's Red Bull] is that it delivers a glorious lift without heavy flavouring. This is a fine example of an SP of light aroma and deep, satisfying tobacco qualities. It's also neither excessively dry nor so fine ground as to make it difficult to take.

Tom Buck is a definite resident on my study desk; at times when I am writing or composing, I want that lift, without too much flavour to distract my creative thoughts.

Strongly recommended.

[For a strong camphor/menthol hit, try Hedges, McChrstals' Original - or Jip if you also want the nicotine wake-up call! I love these in the winter months ... for strength with a slightly more fruity - if somewhat 'artificial' taste, try Red Bull]

I am in agreement with the reviewer below in that the \"Extra Strong\" title is a bit of a misnomer.
With the bergemot / citrus taste it is an obvious step up from Grand Cairo and Gold Crest and in that respect it is stronger than those. However,I would not describe it as a strong snuff which may be off putting to anyone that\'s new to snuff,or indeed , this particular one.
It\'s very flavourful and one of those that I would class as an all day and every day snuff.
Well worth a try.

Of the three Wilson's SP snuffs that I have tried to date, this would be my favourite.

I was a bit leery of the description "extra strong", I was afraid of super menthol or something of the sort. No worries: it's a wonderfully full-flavoured SP. I didn't find it overwhelming in any way. Delicious tobacco, a rich bergamot/citrus flavour, mine arrived nice and fresh, moderately moist and a somewhat coarser grind than the Best SP that I sampled, which made Tom Buck easy to take. If you wish just a suggestion of flavouring and a more subdued tobacco experience, Gold Label is a good choice. I like both very much.

Tom Buck to me is a snuff that just feels manly. That most likely sounds rather silly so I will try to explain.

The grind is fine and the snuff is dry which means you will get a nice burn if you sniff too hard. After feeling this burn the flavor is very earthy to me with of course the top note being bergamont which is very lemony.

In my mind an earthy, lemony snuff that can give you a nice burn in the nose with a name like Tom Buck is the definition of a manly snuff.

All kidding aside though, this is one of my favorite snuffs, and in my opinion a must try for all.

Classic bergamot snuff. It has the standard grind but the color indicates pieces of light colored stem mixed in making for a stronger but slightly drier snuff. McCrystals S'nuff is similar to Tom Buck in this respect. The Tom Buck seems to have a stronger flavor though. Both bergamot which makes for a good classic scent for tobacco. Works well for an all day snuff. Not cloying and is satisfying at every pinch. Cheers to Tom Buck whomever he is. He must be somebody special because this snuff is something special.
